Germanicus. Died AD 19. Æ Dupondius (28mm, 15.90 g, 8h). Rome mint. Struck under Gaius (Caligula), AD 37-41. GERMANICVS/CAESAR in two lines above, Germanicus, bareheaded and draped, standing right in chariot, holding eagle-tipped scepter and reins in left hand, driving triumphal quadriga right; chariot decorated with figure of Victory advancing right, shield in front of her to right / SIGNIS RECEPT/DEVICTIS GERM/S C in three lines across field, Germanicus, bareheaded, wearing cuirass and short tunic, standing left, right leg bent at knee and drawn back behind left, extending right hand in gesture of command, cloak over left arm, holding aquila in left hand. RIC I 57 (Gaius); BMCRE 93-100 (Caligula); BN 140-51 (Caligula). Near EF, hard green and brown patina, traces of deposits and porosity, minor cleaning marks.
