Head of Alexander the Great facing right, wearing a diadem and the horn of Ammon. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ / ΛYΣIMAXOY, Athena, helmeted, enthroned left, holding Nike in her outstretched right hand and resting her left elbow on a shield at her side, behind her rests a spear, a monogram in inner left field, ΣTH below throne (Thompson, in Essays to Robinson -; Imhoof-Blumer, Monnaies Grecques, p.55, 65). Of unusual and delicate style, very attractive, about extremely fine. Very rare.
