ANCIENT COINS, GREEK COINS, Kingdom of Macedon, Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC), Silver Tetradrachm, 16.76g, 12h. Uncertain mint in Western Asia Minor, struck c.323-280 BC. Head of young Herakles facing right, wearing a lion skin. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY, Zeus enthroned left, holding an eagle and a sceptre, cult-statue of Artemis(?) on left (Price 2720; Müller 1256; SNG Copenhagen 866). Beautiful cabinet tone, of fine style, good very fine. Very rare and with an enigmatic symbol.
