RUSSIAN COINS AND MEDALS, Pre-Petrine Coinage, Kievan Rus', Great Principality of Kiev. Svyatopolk the "Damned", 1015-1019. Srebrennik. 2.85 gm. Cf.S/S 178. Enthroned facing figure of Prince Svyatopolk, wearing hat with a cross, and holding long cross in his right hand, legend around / Two-armed tamgha with one arm ending in a cross. The cross is within a quadrilobe, and contains a pellet at the center, top and left and right terminus, the bottom is an inverted "V". Extremely rare and far more elusive than issues of Vladimir I. The alloy appears to contain a high content of silver. Unusually full flan. Heavy wear. Good Fine
