RUSSIAN COINS AND MEDALS, Alexander I, 1801-1825, Alexander I Medals, Medal. Copper. 135 mm. By P. Pistrucci. Allied Victory at Waterloo, 1815. Electrotype (originally intended as a struck medal, the electrotype was completed in the late 1840s due to the technical difficulties of production). BHM 870, Eimer 1067. Conjoined laureate busts of the four Allied sovereigns left: George IV, Prince Regent of Great Britain, Franz II of Austria, Alexander I and Frederick Wilhelm III of Prussia. Above them, Apollo drives a quadriga; allegorical and mythological border / Victory guides the equestrian figures of Wellington and Blucher l., Jupiter in quadriga above striking down figures around representing battle of the giants. Rare. A large and impressive medal for this historic event. Extremely fine
