Pr-1247. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet. Reverse: Nike standing left holding wreath and stylus, star at left. This posthumous Alexander type represents what was probably a necessity issue produced around 220 B.C. when the city's independence was threatened by Mithradates III of Pontus. Soft strike, as is frequently encountered with this issue. CHOICE VERY FINE.
