MEXICO. Guadalajara, La Audencia. Silver Proclamation Medal, 1760. Charles III (1759-88). ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
39.2 mm; 25.29 gms. Gr-K-25; Med-66; Her-59; Betts-457. By F. Cassanova. VERY RARE, the only example of this medal we have seen or handled. In fact, most references (including Grove) were unable to locate an image of this medal, simply reprinting the line drawing from Herrera. Head of Charles III right; Reverse: Arms comprised of a crowned and draped Virgin of Guadalupe, date below in Latin numerals the final one of which has been hand engraved. A few tiny edge nicks, but overall a handsome medal with very attractive toning. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.

From the John Adams Collection.
