MEXICO. Veracruz. Cast and Chased Silver Proclamation Medal, 1760. Charles III (1759-88). EXTREMELY FINE.
35.1 mm; 14.40 gms. Gr-K-66 (plate coin); Med-124; Her-107; Betts-505. EXTREMELY RARE and the only example that we know of. Armored bust of Charles III right; Reverse: Arms of Veracruz. Clearly modeled after the earlier Verarcuz medals of Luis I and Ferdinand VI. While the overall quality of the cast is quite good, although well detailed this medal was clearly chased by a less skilled artist than that of the previous two kings. Cleaned some time ago, sharp details, and quite attractive. EXTREMELY FINE.
