MEXICO. Veracruz, Zab Aleta. Cast and Chased Silver Proclamation Medal, 1760. Charles III (1759-88). VERY FINE.
34.0 mm; 10.03 gms. Gr-K-67; Med-125; Her-108; Betts-506. VERY RARE and only the second example of this medal we are aware of. Crude armored bust of Charles III right; Reverse: Arms of Veracruz. Mold for casting made by altering a 1760 Veracrus medal Grove-K-66 with the addition of "ZAB ALETA" flanking the castle on the reverse. Some light scratches and holed at twelve o'clock, cleaned. VERY FINE.
