British House of Commons Reports of the Commissioners Regarding Preventing Forgery of Bank Notes and Related, 1818-1820. Lot of (3) Self Covered Reports. Very Fine.
1) "Report from the Committee on Mr. Bradbury's Petition Relative to Machinery for Engraving and Etching". 4pp. Tall folio, printed verso docket. Natural folds.20cm by 33cm. 2-3) Pair of reports, as ordered by the House of Commons. The first, a preliminary report dated January 22, 1819 (4pp) and a final report (2pp) dated February 18, 1820. Tall folio, printed verso docket. Natural folds.20cm by 33cm. The astute commissioners were not heeded. Congreve, who of course published his own findings in his treatise, made strong recommendations for steel plate printing and color usage. Bank of England went with more inept, rubber stamped workmanship of Applegarth and Cowper. Natural docket folds, but essentially as made. Rarely encountered primary source material.

Estimate: $250.00- $350.00
