Siderographic Specimen of the Plan for the Preventing of Forgery of Bank Notes submitted to the Bankers of the United Kingdom By Perkins, Fairman & Heath. 69 Fleet Street, London. Double Sided Advertising Plate. Very Fine.
Individual engraved advertising plate extracted from Ackermann's "Repository"(pencil notation on back bottom edge). Face and back direct printed to thin card stock using hardened steel plate. Imprint of Perkins, Fairman & Heath. Oblong, octavo. 19.0cm by 9.5cm with wide margining all sides. Face, black engraving only on card. Center, American styled Minerva standing, now supporting the British shield. Top, cherubs as used on FDU American die. Small dies, side tall vignettes, and counters. Back, all in deep blue. Interlocking oval lathe across center and at sides. Quartet of female profile vignettes, cherubs top and bottom. Rarely offered and first we have catalogued. Some minor foxing spots or rust, these are generally confined to the perimeter. Ex Gene Hessler Collection.
