NETHERLANDS INDIES. Javasche Bank. 5 Gulden, 5.4.1895. P-45b.
An extremely important offering of this 19th century Javasche Bank design type. The first we have handled and certainly a piece that is missing in even advanced collections. A note-wide under-print is seen with intricate lathe styling in brown with black primary inks. The back shows an ovular design with four attractive blue "5" counters and four different languages stating the obligation. Small security code stamp at lower right of back in oval with "2643." A piece that indeed may make our estimate seem conservative. PMG Very Fine 25.
