FRANCE. Toulouse International Exhibition Grand Prize Cross & Medal Set, 1891.
2 pieces in set. The award cross is 65 x 91 mm (excluding ribbon) and is gilt with blue, red and white enamels. A four armed cross with a central medallion bearing the name of the event and the arms of Toulouse is suspended from a gold oak wreath with a white enamel bar. A short length of red watered silk ribbon is looped through the suspender. The 56.7 mm gilt bronze commemorative medal bears a personification of France holding a shield labeled RF. Behind her is a radiant rising sun. Both items in a fitted maroon case which has a bit of wear to it. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
