ITALY. Vatican. Order of St. Gregory Breast Star, ND (Instituted 1831).
86 mm; 59.5 gms. Vernon-25; Werlich-1318. Eight point, gold rimmed red enamel cross with a central medallion portraying the image of St. Gregory on a blue enamel field. All of this mounted on an eight pointed multi-rayed faceted plaque. The reverse is blank and bears two fixed and one hinged tunic pins. No hallmarks or maker's name. The enamel is sound and complete. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
