32.6 mm; 12.0 gms. VanLoon-I-160.1. Armored and draped female figure standing facing flanked by letters "S C" presenting wreath, printing press to right; Reverse: Sailing ship breaking through chained forts guarding harbor. Issued on the 200th anniversary of Laurens Coster, who claimed to have invented printing with movable type before Gutenberg. Semi-prooflike field and attractive blue and gold toning add to the appeal of this RARE medal. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
