RUSSIA. Death of Svyatoslav Bronze Medal, ND (ca. 1783-96). Catherine II (The Great) (1762-96).
78.8 mm; 191.08 gms. Dia-1752. Crowned half length bust of Svyatoslav holding shield to right; Reverse: Fallen soldier's monument with view of Dnieper Rapids behind where in 972 Svyatoslav was killed in battle. This is medal number 85 in Empress Catherine II's historical series of medals. Medium brown patina, somewhat darker near devices. Some surface abrasions, typical of a medal this size and of such shallow relief. VERY FINE.
