SWITZERLAND. Partial Set of Swiss Medalist Jean Dassier's Sixty Piece Series of Small Medals Recording the History of Rome, ND (ca. 1843).
60 pieces in lot. Produced in 1843, the medals honored major events in Roman history as well as notable personages of the Republic and Empire. Most are signed "J. DASSIER ET FILS", "J.D." or "JD ET FILS", but many are not signed. All are bronze and about 30 mm. Some appear to be cast. Housed in an old home-made wooden case. While there are (60) medals, there is some duplication, and two are not a part of the series. Some have been cleaned. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. Grades: VERY FINE-ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
