Ferdinand VI gold 8 Escudos 1758 PN-J AU50 NGC, Popayan mint, KM32.2, Onza-611. A problem-free coin, with limited wear on the higher points but clean surfaces free of significant handling marks and still partially lustrous. The strike is soft in the centers as usually seen on this issue. This 3-year type was the only one issued under Ferdinand VI by the Popayan mint and featured the 2 sup nd /sup type bust of that monarch. Amazingly, Popayan would continue to use this Ferdinand VI bust for all the Charles III issues up to 1771, proof that they never received the "rat nose" bust punches for the latter king. A very scarce type, becoming quite challenging and elusive in this unflawed preservation.

Estimate: 3000-4000 USD
