Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. Rudolf August 2 Taler 1686-RB AU53 NGC, KM531.3, Dav-LS114. Featuring Rudolf August on horseback with "2" stamped below the horse's hoof and ornately-detailed, helmeted arms. This is a massive example of this striking Loser Double Taler with all-over, silvery-gray tone and underlying golden highlights. Despite a few areas of weakness on the reverse shield, the devices are fairly well-struck for the issue and other than a few minor ticks, the fields are remarkably fresh. All-in-all, a fantastically well-preserved example of this type, highly-collectible in this choice designation. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $1400 in VF, $2550 in EF.
