Trier - Archbishopric. Werner von Falkenstein (1388-1418) Goldgulden 1400-02 MS62 NGC, Oberwesel mint, Fr-3426, Noss-315. WЄRnRVS • | • ΛRЄPVS : TRЄ •, John the Baptist standing facing, a scepter in his left hand and a cross between his feet / + MOnЄTΛ NOVΛ WЄSΛLIЄNSIS, arms of Minzenberg surrounded by arms of Trier, Mainz, Köln, and the Pfalz, all within a quadrilobe with trefoils in the angles. A lustrous and very bright example, this piece features a lovely obverse. The reverse center is quite sharp, although a little double-strike has left the legends difficult. Scarce thus.
