Charles I "Newark Besieged" Shilling 1646 AU50 PCGS, S-3143, North-2640 (R). An outstanding example of this rare type issued with this date for fewer than six months, as Newark surrendered in early May of 1646. The details are quite sharp overall and the reverse doubling is not especially distracting, most uncommon is these hastily produced siege issues. Faint luster is noted in recessed areas.
