George II 1/2 Crown 1731 MS62 NGC, S-369. Roses & Plumes, "Quinto" edge. A beautiful example of the Young laureate Bust style with roses and plumes in angles between the reverse crests signifying West Country silver. Despite the slightly off-centered dies, the strike is sharply impressed and immediately apparent. Faint adjustment marks through the king's hair and over the reverse shield are present, but blend so effortlessly into the surrounding patina that they are virtually unnoticeable to the unaided eye. Attractive from all angles and with a significant amount of luster residing in the protected areas alongside moments of blush-colored highlights.
