George III copper Proof Restrike Penny 1797 PR66 Brown PCGS, Peck-1137. A striking specimen in beautiful mahogany-brown with fully-struck design elements that sit atop virtually pristine surfaces. As noted in Peck, this restrike was struck with rusted dies with the entire figure of Britannia as well as the broad rim displaying thickly-encrusted rust marks. Also common to this variety is the line-flaw through the 9 in the date. A spectacular example of this type, highly appealing in this deluxe quality.
