George III gold Sovereign 1820 MS63 NGC, Royal mint, KM674, S-3785C. Open 2 variety. A wonderful Select example of this first sovereign type with unquestionably premium eye-appeal and technical preservation for the grade. Presented is bright lemon-gold, the fields are highly reflective on the obverse, resulting in a highly cameoed appearance when contrasted with the satiny bust. On the reverse, velvety texture dominates. Worthy of serious consideration from the specialist collecting sovereigns by date, but perhaps more likely to be snatched up by the type enthusiast that desires as example of this issue with full detail and rarely surpassed appeal.
