William IV gold Sovereign 1831 MS63 NGC, KM717, S-3829. First bust, "W.W." incuse. An incredibly rare offering as 1831 sovereigns are normally encountered only in proof, making a mint-state example quite elusive. This spectacular specimen features sharply struck devices with a most pleasing obverse portrait and a phenomenal reverse crowned shield. The surfaces are glowing with strong, satiny luster and the rims are nearly perfect. Somewhat conservatively graded and undoubtedly worthy of much attention. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $1400 in VF, $2950 in EF, $4500 in UNC.
Estimate: 7500-10000 USD
