Victoria gold Error 1/2 Sovereign 1876 MS62 NGC, Royal mint, KM735.2, S-3860E. Reverse Struck Through Capped Die Error. Created when a previously struck half sovereign became affixed or "capped" to the working reverse die and the present coin was fed into the dies, only to then be struck with the free obverse die and the die that was "capped" by the previously struck piece. Certain to be highly sought by those that understand the rarity of major errors on gold coinage.
