Edward VII gold Coronation Medal 1902 MS64 PCGS, Eimer-1870var., BHM-3772var. 20mm/6.67gms. By E. Fuchs. Obv. Conjoined bust of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. Rev. Brittania seated right, her right arm atop oval shield bearing royal arms and coronation date of 9 Aug 1902, Westminster Abbey in distance, radiant crown above. A unique variant of the type, struck in a diameter that went unadvertised at the time, and in a metal (gold), that has remained uncataloged to this date. In addition to being unique, this medal is also notable for its mention of the correct August 9th coronation date, a fact that is misrepresented on most coronation medals for Edward VII due to the last-second delay of the ceremony. Beautifully preserved, the surfaces remain fully radiant, with a particularly pleasing high-relief obverse motif. An important offering for coronation medal collectors.

Estimate: 2000-2500 USD
