SICILY. Syracuse. Agathocles (317-289 BC). AV hemistater or drachm (16mm, 4.28 gm, 12h). Struck under Agathocles as Tyrant, 317-310 BC. Laureate head of Apollo left, Σ below neck / ΣΥΡΑ-K-ΟΣΙΩΝ, charioteer driving racing biga right, triskeles below galloping horses. HGC 2, 1276 (same dies as illustrated example). SNG ANS 549-550. Graininess due to die rust. Likely removed from mount: Edge marks and evidence of repair in fields, otherwise Nearly Extremely Fine.
