ATTICA. Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. AR New Tetradrachm (31mm, 16.79 gm, 12h). "New Style" issue, 121/0 BC. Karaich–, Ergokle–, and Dio–, magistrates. Head of Athena right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet ornamented with leaping griffin / Α-ΘΕ, owl standing right, head facing, on amphora lying sideways; magistrates' names ΚΑ-ΡΑΙΧ, EPΓO-ΛΕ and ΔΙΟΦ in fields; to right, prow left; I on amphora, ME below; all within wreath. Thompson 536d. A beautiful specimen, well centered and deeply struck on a broad flan. Lovely old cabinet toning. NGC AU 5/5 - 4/5. Ex Mossberg Collection (1946).
