PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Ptolemy II Philadelphus (285/4-246 BC). AR tetradrachm (27mm, 13.75 gm, 1h). Alexandria. Diademed head of Ptolemy I right, aegis around neck, small Δ in curl of hair behind ear / BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΠTOΛEMAIOY, eagle standing left on thunderbolt, wings starting to open; EY and KΛE monogram over A in left field. Svoronos 375. A very rare variety, with only one other example with the same symbols offered this decade. Exceptional style, strike and metal quality. NGC MS★ 5/5 - 5/5, Fine Style.
