Republic gold 8 Escudos 1839 Do-RM MS63 NGC, Durango mint, KM383.3, Fr-68. Choice Mint State, rather well struck and with considerable mint bloom. A very attractive representative of this mint's early issues, with fewer die breaks than usually seen. As noted in our description of lot 3146 in our 9/2014 auction, the dies for this issue were probably produced from a hub dated 183x and punching the last digit "9" into them. Most engaging and very scarce in this engaging quality.
