Republic gold Commemorative Medal 1890 About Uncirculated Cleaned, Lima mint. Essentially Mint state and very flashy albeit light hairlines are present in the fields. A gold medal celebrating the Cornerstone laying ceremony for the statue of South American liberator General San Martin in Lima on July 28, 1890. The attending 6 dignitaries beginning with the president of Peru Andrés A. Cáceres are listed on the reverse. 73.4 grams and probably .900 fine (thus probably 2.35 oz AGW). Very rare in this metal and most attractive despite the slight cleaning evidence.
Estimate: 3000-4000 USD
