Alexander I bronzed copper Proof Pattern Rouble 1804 PR64 Brown Cameo NGC, Soho mint, by. C.H. Kuechler, Bitkin-925 (R1), Diakov-291.1 (R1), Severin-2552. Obv. Armored and mantled bust of Alexander I right. Rev. Cross dividing date 1804 below. A flawless strike, with deeply mirrored fields and rich chocolate color. The 1804 copper Proof pieces were trials for Matthew Boulton's new Russian minting facility. These pieces were struck in bronzed copper, as this example, and in regular copper.
