James VI Ryal of 30 Shillings 1571 XF45 NGC, S-5472. Also known as a Sword Dollar, and without the Thistle re-valuation mark of 1578, this broad example presents bold, original details and evenly-toned surfaces in a delectable shade of steel-gray. Light ghosting is visible on both the obverse and reverse which further adds to the interest of this offering. Altogether a very pleasing coin, scarce in grades above VF, and well-deserving of a strong bid.
Estimate: 2200-2600 USD
