Uruguay
Montevideo. Ferdinand VII silver Cast Proclamation Medal 1808 XF, Medina-323, Altunez-5.2. 40mm/22.41gms. Hand-milled edge. Obv. King facing right. Rev. Indigenous figure on globe with crown and plumes in hands. A crude and unskilled cast (as is always seen on the type), yet incredibly charming, with the central detail and fields re-worked by hand, the fields taking on a dimpled appearance. Made and distributed locally in largely unestablished Montevideo, Uruguay to announce Ferdinand VII as the new holder of the Spanish thrown. A rare and important Proclamation piece.
