Draped bust of Artemis right, wearing stephane and pearl necklace, bow and quiver over shoulder; ligate HE to right / Lion standing right; MAΣΣAΛ-IHTΩN above and below, ligate HE to right. The coins of Massalia offer a unique iconography that blends Greek and Celtic influences. Due to their extensive use in trade, Massalian coins are often encountered in heavily worn condition; this remarkable specimen displays almost no wear and is certainly among the finest known.
