Jenkins 129 (O43/R116). SNG Lloyd 1614 (same dies). SNG Copenhagen 83 (same dies). Niggeler 540 (same dies). Lovely style and nicely toned. NGC AU 4/5 - 4/5, Fine Style. From The California Collection. The Greek die engravers employed to produce the early Siculo-Punic coinage were keen observers of nature and produced images of great beauty and delicacy. Here the "Punic horse" often seen on coins of Entella struck under Carthaginian control is depicted in a pose reminiscent of 'passage,' one of the elements of dressage training, a very elevated and collected trot in which the horse seems to be dancing.
