South Australia. Victoria gold Adelaide Pound 1852 MS64 PCGS, KM2, Fr-3. A striking example of this one-year type with lustrous golden surfaces, fully rendered devices, and a dentilated inner circle. The only perceived imperfection in the way of a minor reverse pin scratch hardly diminishes the overall appeal of this choice mint-state rarity. As an interesting aside, most of the original mintage was melted down when it was discovered that the intrinsic value was higher than the face value. Beautiful, and absolutely worthy of a premium bid. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $11000 in VF, $26500 in EF, $40000 in UNC.
Estimate: 50000-60000 USD
