Joao V gold 20000 Reis 1724-M MS62 NGC, Vila Rica mint, KM117, Russo-248. A most impressive well-struck and Brilliant Mint State example with very attractive apricot toning and the few scattered handling marks well within the confines of the designation. Arguably Brazil's most iconic gold coin, the massive Dobrao of 20000 Reis was struck between the years 1724 and 1727, with the initial date noticeably scarcer than its counterparts, much more so in higher preservations. As such, this lovely example can unquestionably and deservedly be granted the "Very Rare" status. It will be rightfully rank among the centerpieces in the refined cabinet of its next lucky owner. From The Santa Catarina Collection of Brazilian Gold Coins
