George V 10 Cents 1913 Broad Leaves MS63 PCGS, Ottawa mint, KM23. An extremely rare variety, the result of the use of the "Broad Leaves" hub, first introduced in 1909 but used infrequently after 1913. While it is unknown how many examples exist of the "broad leaves" variety, it is certainly rare; despite Heritage's strong history of selling high-quality Canadian coins, we have sold less than 10 examples in our history. This certainly ranks among the finest known for the type, being the sole MS63 examples graded by either PCGS or NGC, with just two finer graded by PCGS (it may be worth noting that NGC has not seen any examples better than AU58). Heritage sold the PCGS MS64 example back in January, 2010 for a hammer price of $20,000, which is the finest example that has been on the public market in the last decade. The present piece is highly attractive, with deep red and blue toning and significant luster; super eye-appeal overall.
