Canada
Victoria 20 Cents 1858 MS65 PCGS, KM4. A popular, short-lived denomination that had its time as the largest issue of Province of Canada coinage, but was later replaced after the Confederation was formed, with the 25 cent coin taking its place. Given the need for circulating coinage at the time however, most examples show significant wear with true Uncirculated coins being highly sought by collectors today. The present piece, among the finest we have see, is a coin of unquestionably elite quality. Obviously carefully handled since its striking, the surfaces now display a most-pleasing patina, the centers showcasing orange and pink hue, while the edges exhibit jaw-dropping blue-green and gold. Dazzling underlying flash truly pushes the eye-appeal over the edge. While short one grade point, incredibly similar overall to the Canadiana Collection specimen that we sold in 2010 for $18,400.
