Edward VII gold Specimen Sovereign 1908-C SP66 PCGS, Ottawa mint, KM14. Mintage: 636. The first Canadian sovereign issue, struck only in specimen format as a sort of ceremonial beginning to the adoption of this worldwide denomination in the country. The surfaces of the present piece, much finer than is typical, showcase fabulous satiny luster over both sides with a sharp strike and surfaces that are borderline blemish-free. Light orange-gold tone only adds to the character. The highest graded example that we have seen offered at auction, and as such, a sure bet to capture the attention of the Canadian specialist with a discerning eye for quality.
Estimate: 15000-20000 USD
