Great Britain
George IV gold Proof 5 Pounds 1826 PR61 NGC, Royal mint, KM702, S-3797. As a result of their imposing and immediately captivating size, the gold 5 Pounds of the 19th century have become some of the most coveted items in British numismatics. With a mintage of only 150, this proof issue of George IV is certainly no exception. On the present example, a pleasing blanket of orange-gold tone sheaths the surfaces with grade-appropriate hairlines in the fields. While not noted on the holder, a delicate cameo appearance is evident with the reverse coat of arms being particularly pronounced. A couple arrant marks are observed, but they remain mostly clear of the focal centers. All considered, quite pleasing for the issue and for the collector that's been searching for such a coin, an example that will certainly be a fine and welcome addition. From The Empire Collection
