William IV gold Proof Sovereign 1831 PR64 Deep Cameo PCGS, Royal mint, KM717, S-3829B, WR-261. By William Wyon. An extremely rare type; though there have been a several examples that have sold in the past two or three years because of a few major collections of British gold coins that have been brought to market, this is a type that was actually rarely encountered prior to that. As such, this should still be considered a rare opportunity. The example that we sold from the Law Collection in August, 2014 (Heritage 3033, lot 23291) was also graded PR64 Deep Cameo by PCGS and sold for $19,000 all in. We believe that the market has remained steady, if not increased, since then and therefore this piece should match that record, if not surpass it.
