Victoria gold Sovereign 1838 MS65 PCGS, Royal mint, KM736.1, S-3852. A radiant beauty, delicately set in natural golden hues on the obverse, with reverse surfaces that reveal a touch of apricot and burgundy color around the edges. A key date, this issue is avidly sought in any form of Mint State, but survivors such as the present are precious few, with both major grading services having certified only 5 examples at the MS65 grade combined with a lone MS66 seen by PCGS. This is the first Gem of the date we have had the pleasure of offering, and as such, we expect strong competition for this inaugural issue of Victoria's sovereign. From The Law Collection
