Victoria Penny 1864 MS65 Red and Brown PCGS, Royal mint, KM749.2, S-3954, Freeman-49 (R9). Plain "4" in date variety. Much original mint red remains in the obverse fields and flashy luster, even where the color has faded to brown, captivates the eye. Close inspection with a loupe confirms this piece as a full Gem, with no marks of visual significance and full definition that perfectly details Victoria's bun in the centers, as well as the dentils that circle the edges. The finest thus far graded by PCGS, and an absolute certainty to be highly coveted as a key rarity in the Victorian penny series.
