Paul I Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1798 CM-MБ MS65 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, Bitkin-48, Severin-2425. Obv. Cruciform crowned Imperial monogram with the date. Rev. Four-line legend in garnished tablet. An amazing example of this scarce Paul I type. The lustrous surfaces are bathed in pleasing shades of steel-gray, argent-gray, and golden color, with nicely defined devices. Minor adjustment marks are all that keep this spectacular piece from an even higher grade. Even so, this is the single coin certified by NGC and PCGS in MS65, with none certified finer.
Estimate: 15000-20000 USD
