Nicholas I Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1829 CПБ-HГ MS64 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, Bitkin-119, KM-C160. Obv. Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date and value around. Rev. Crowned four-line-inscription in wreath. Brilliant-white, frosty mint luster, with a touch of gray patina around the devices. The strike is superb and the surfaces show only a few tiny marks. An exceptional Mint State example of the "wings down" variety. This is the variety where the shield does not touch the Crown on the obverse. Bitkin does not list this variety for 1829, and checking the pieces auctioned by the major auction houses for the last few years, this type appears to be considerably rarer than the "shield touches crown" variety. No examples of this date have been certified finer.

Estimate: 12500-15000 USD
