Oscar I gold Ducat 1844-AG UNC Details (Obverse Damage) NGC, KM662, Fr-90. Dazzling, with vibrant, golden luster and impeccable design elements. This absolute rarity features the large portrait of the King and is the key date in the Oscar I Ducat series. Due to an exacting strike, the devices are exceptional--from the raised detail of the King's features to the crisp imagery on the reverse coat of arms. If not for the unfortunate gouge within the obverse legend and a smaller, insignificant mark on the reverse mantle, this coin would receive a gem designation. Even so, with a mintage of just 946 pieces, this is a coin that is always in demand at any level. According to Sieg, there are only two auction records denoting the sale of this coin within the past twenty years, and we have been unable to find any electronic records to indicate otherwise. Quite simply, this is the perfect opportunity for the collector of this series who has been patiently waiting for this rare date to surface.
Estimate: 10000-15000 USD
