Viking Coinage of York (c.895-902). Cnut Cunnetti Penny ND MS62 NGC, York mint, S-993, North-501. + CИVT (in chrismatic form) REX, a patriarchal cross with two crosslets in angles / +CVNNETTI, small cross with two pellets. A lovely example, toned with nearly full underlying luster. The NGC attribution of S-988 is incorrect as that type would feature a cross-crosslet rather than the patriarchal cross. This lot includes an old collection envelope.
